An Exfoliation Like No Other

I realized I haven’t yet shared one of my favorite treatments that is safe for pregnant skin! There’s only so much you can do to treat your skin while it’s going through all the hormonal changes that pregnant women endure. This particular treatment is a must for any skin type or client. I have some clients that come in monthly for this treatment to keep their skin glowing and radiant. Men also love this one!

This treatment and ‘method’ has been around for a number of years, the technology just keeps getting better as time goes on. We used to call this treatment system, SilkPeel, but client’s kept getting it confused with a traditional peel. Now it is known as, Dermalinfusion by Clarion. Basically it is an advanced medical grade version of Microdermabrasion. I think a good chunk of people have either received Microdermabrasion or have heard of it. So, for those of you who have no clue what Microdermabrasion is…. it is a rapid exfoliation of the skin with a manual device, basically removing all of the dead skin cells with a machine. This can be done by  spraying hot crystals on the skin at a very high speed and then vacuuming away the debris. The other method is with a gritty diamond tip that has different grit levels depending on the skin type (kind of like sandpaper, but with diamonds).  The Dermalinfusion machine uses the gritty diamond method and, due to it being medical grade, the grits on the diamond tips range from quite soft to a more intense abrasive grit. The more intense one’s I typically wouldn’t use on a client who only gets this treatment here and there. The only time I use the more intense grits is on a client who has received this treatment on a regular basis and I have slowly upped them to the higher grits after a number of visits. There is a risk of the skin tearing if the higher grit is used on a thinner, sensitive or older skin type. So I will always start them off on the lowest softer grit the first treatment.

What’s so amazing about this Dermalinfusion machine is that while you are sloughing away all of that old dead skin cells and cleaning out the pores, a product is being infused into the new fresh plump skin simultaneously. Cool right!

There are four different solutions that can be used for the infusion. The client can either receive one solution all over or you can mix it up and use multiple solutions and target different conditions on the skin. For example my chin and nose have enlarged pores so I use one solution in these areas then for the rest of my face I use another.

The solutions to choose from are:

  • Ultra Hydrating Solution complete with Hyaluronic Acid and Aloe Vera. Perfect for delicate, aged skin, or just general anti-aging.
  • Pore Clarifying Solution that helps to kill the bacteria on the surface of the skin which will aid in drying breakouts and prevent underlying breakouts from forming. Continuous treatment with this solution can also help reduce pore size.
  • Skin Brightening Solution is perfect for skin that has any sort of discoloration from the sun, breakouts, Melasma and so on… This one can be used all over or as a spot treatment!
  • Vitamin C Solution for a general skin brightening and of course anti-aging.

If any one has experienced this they will know that when we get hormonal breakouts (like in pregnancy) it tends to be along our jaw and chin area. So, when I am treating skin that has this I will target that area with the Pore Clarifying solution. I’ll examine the rest of the client’s skin and decide what other solution will be most beneficial for them, as they may not have breakouts elsewhere. Maybe they just need a nice clean up to get their skin to more of a healthy glow again! That’s the beauty of this treatment it can safely be tailored to almost any skin type. It is also quite relaxing! Perfect for a pregnant woman who just needs to put their feet up and let themselves get taken care of.
